Why did I receive an offline alert?

The meter.me app will automatically send alerts if your meter.me equipment goes offline.

If you received an offline alert that means the meter.me equipment supporting one or more of your water system components and/or the meter.base gateway is offline and you will not be able to remotely monitor either your water system or control this component until the equipment is brought back online.

Here are some possible causes and basic troubleshooting steps:-

If your meter.base gateway is offline

  1. Check if your router and local area network are online i.e. that you have a working internet connection.
  2. If so, check that the meter.base gateway is powered on and connected to your local network if it was wired to your router/network or connected over wifi.
  3. Some meter.bases are LTE only in which case check the device has power and the status of the connectivity lights.
  4. Power cycle your router and meter.base gateway if needed by unplugging the mains power cord to each device for 20-30 seconds.

If your meter.mote or component is offline

  1. Check the last known battery level in the app.
  2. If the battery level was low before it went offline and the mote has a solar panel, check that the solar panel is receiving full sun
  3. Clean the solar panel if it is dirty so it will start charging again.

If you do not want to receive these alerts you can disable them from within the app:

  1. Open the meter.me app

  2. Select Actions (bottom right corner)

  3. Under System Alerts, select “Offline alerts”

  4. You will see a list of meter.me equipment that has offline alerts configured. The name should correlate to the name of the component the equipment supports.

  5. Select the toggle to the right of the meter.me equipment name you wish to disable the alert for (e.g. Pump mote)

  6. The toggle will switch to grey when the alert is disabled.
