When it comes to water meter monitoring, meter.me recommends the following motes. Each has its own strengths, so please consider which mote will work best for your installation.
EM300-DI:
- Uses an internal antenna that will work best for deployments that are closer to the local meter.base
- Does not require sun exposure for charging: Internal LiPo battery offers an estimated 5-year lifespan when configured for pulse counting
- Includes input for monitoring one water meter
UC511:
- Uses an external antenna providing better LoRa signal range; beneficial for deployments that are further from the local meter.base
- Requires sun exposure for solar charging as the unit does not contain a primary cell battery. The unit can also be connected to external power
- Includes inputs for monitoring up to two water meters
